Tarpaulins
A tarpaulin [also known as tarps or tadpatri or tirpal] is a sheet of waterproof material that comes in various sizes and is typically made from materials such as HDPE, LDPE, or PVC. The word “tarpaulin” originated from its use as a tar-coated canvas that was used to cover items on ships. Today, tarpaulins are available in different materials and thicknesses, including canvas, urethane-coated polyester, and polyethylene. Modern tarpaulins are made from woven polyethylene, making them an affordable option.
A tarpaulin or tadpatri features eyelets or reinforced holes at the corners and along the edges at regular intervals, allowing nylon ropes to be passed through and tied to an anchor. The primary function of tarpaulins is to provide shelter from the rain, and sometimes from sun and wind.
The Versatile Features of Tarpaulin
- Durability: Tarpaulins can withstand extreme weather conditions and heavy loads. It is tear-resistant and can resist punctures, making it a reliable and long-lasting choice.
- Waterproof: Tarpaulin is commonly coated with PVC, making it highly resistant to water and other liquids.
- UV Resistant: Tarpaulin can resist damage from the sun’s UV rays, making it an ideal material for outdoor use.
- Lightweight: Tarpaulin is easy to transport and store.
- Customizable: Tarpaulin is available in various sizes and colors, making it a versatile material that can be customized to suit different applications.
The Cost-Effective Benefits of Tarpaulin
- Protection: Tarpaulins can protect machinery, equipment, and materials from rain, snow, and other types of moisture, helping to extend their lifespan.
- Cost-Effective: Tarpaulin price is quite less than other similar options like metal price or wood price.
- Easy to Install: Tarpaulin can be secured using ropes or bungee cords, making it a quick and convenient solution for various applications.
- Low Maintenance: Tarpaulin can simply be wiped clean with a damp cloth or hosed down when necessary.
